AXIS is an ongoing project that focuses on the study of iconic British Guitars and the creation of one off glass pieces dedicated to individual instruments as played by the likes of Rory Gallagher, Wilko Johnson, Bill Wyman and Fifth Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe
The idea came after a visit to Picassos Guitar exhibition at Goma, New York in 2014. This exhibition highlighted Picassos obsession with the depiction of the Spanish guitar in his work between 1912-1914
One of the key elements to the project is the participation and patronage of each guitarist as part of the research
Every work contains a piece of the musicians DNA within the glass in the form of donated guitar strings, plectrums and other media
The project will culminate with a series of exhibitions displaying twenty of these one off glass-works in Glasgow, London and New York
